  • ‘ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்’ - குறள் அமுது

‘ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்’ - குறள் அமுது (Aayirathil Oruvan-Kural Amuthu) a dance drama, was staged last evening at the Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre. It is a crisp story line of a warrior caught between his love and his duty. The colourful and vibrant LED screen shots presented in the show was a feast to the audience. It was a combination of dance elements of Barathanatyam and Folk like poikal kuthirai (பொய்க்கால் குதிரை), karakam (கரகம்), kummi (கும்மி). This combination sustained the interests of the audience. ‘Tirukural was the base of the dance drama with Several couplets of kural taking place in the music and dance form. Hence there were both message and entertainment targeting all demographics. The flyer attached here will give more information about the producer, director, organisers, local dance school and supporters. Many Thanks to Mr R Dhinakaran for being the GOH and to Tamil Language Council and LiSHA for their support. Special Thanks to the 21st century crane summit, Taiwan and Bharath Cultural Centre, India for awarding Mr Kartik Alagappan and myself with the ‘21st Century Millennium award for art and culture’. I know Dr Yu Hsi’s (President of the 21st century crane summit, Taiwan)passion and interest in Tamil literature and we used his Madarin translations of Tirukural, some of Barathiyar, Barathidasanar songs, Athichudi in Kalamanjari’s earlier programs. I know Mr Karumuthu Kannan (President, Bharath Cultural Centre) and his family, as they hail from Chettinad. Special Thanks to them and their organisations for recognising us. Thanks to one and all for supporting us in this program.
